A lifelong swimmer and accomplished triathlete, I’ve raced from junior elite level sprint distance to Ironman World Championship events, winning the amateur London AJ Bell Olympic Triathlon in 2016 and completing Swissman Xtreme tri twice. After years in triathlon, I discovered SwimRun for its adventure, simplicity and community. I love racing in exciting, beautiful and challenging landscapes and the SwimRun scene ticks all the boxes. 2025 was my first SwimRun season, with my training ground being centred around the Cotswold trails and Cheltenham open air lido, with big plans for 2026.

We’re both strong swimmers and train together at Teddington Masters Swimming Club. Simon also publishes Outdoor Swimmer magazine and consequently has done a lot of open water swimming. Running is a work in progress for both of us. Simon did triathlon many years ago and has some running experience from back then but took a long break due to injury. Lucy had never done any running until she tried swimrun – but appears to have a particular strength for running uphill through sand dunes.
Our ranking in 2024 was mostly earned by doing a lot of events rather than any outstanding performances. We like all the swimruns we’ve done but our favourites are coastal events with stunning sea views and a high proportion of swimming. We’re always disappointed when swims get cancelled and we have to run further!
Team Name: Obvious really. We find we overtake people on the swims, and they overtake us back on the runs. At least that keeps the events sociable and we like to chat with the teams we cross paths with.
Team Fact: Lucy got stung three times by jellies on the Wales Swimrun, despite swimming behind Simon, who claims he never saw them.
